Why do we vacation? To find a secret escape where we can reset ourselves and experience peace… and maybe some much-needed perspective. During the winter to early Spring months, Bryson City (and all of Western North Carolina) come to life. We’re going to reveal why the secret season of Bryson City is one of the best kept secrets you should take advantage of.
Within driving distance to many of Western North Carolina’s most popular towns and cities, Bryson City is the perfect hub to plan an adventure. There’s something for every kind of traveler, including winter hikes with stunning views and frozen waterfalls, brewery tours for craft beer lovers, along with eclectic shopping and delicious cozy meals.
Skip the crowds during the secret season of Bryson City

During these cozy winter months, you’ll enjoy the unobstructed views of the winter all to yourself! Once the leaves fall off the trees, it opens up a world of gorgeous scenery to enjoy. To top that off, with less crowds, you have a front row seat to these instagram-worthy shots. Temperatures are cold but not freezing, so with a few extra layers, hikes are comfortable. In fact, you’ll still break a sweat depending on the trail!
Additionally, this is the best time to travel if you’d like to avoid crowds in general. Western North Carolina feels like a cozy oasis where you’ll only see the locals out and about.

The most affordable time to travel to Bryson City
Another big pro of the secret season is it’s less expensive. From January to March, we reduce our rates, even more so mid-week, making this one of the cheapest times to experience the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Use that extra cash to go make a reservation at our local restaurants, which won’t be as packed as they tend to be during peak season. As some of the locals say, you’ll get more “mountain for your money!”
Gift yourself a mountain retreat to kick off the new year

Did we mention it’s fire pit and soaker tub season? Seriously… come experience a cozy soak in your luxury tub after a day of hiking with clear views of the great smoky mountains. Doesn’t that sound like the perfect way to kick off a brand new year? 😉
Though the spring and summer months are no doubt awesome travel times, there is something magical about starting your year with a getaway. Traveling to the mountains reminds us that we have everything we need already. Especially during the winter where things are quiet. It’s the most hygge time of all. This is the type of travel experience with adventure and ease, a vacation that will completely reset you to conquer a new year.
